Abstract
Membrane liquid loss of supported ionic liquid membranes (SILMs) under high cross-membrane pressure difference (Δp) for gas separation is a subject of great interest among researchers. Authors report that even the serious loss of membrane liquid may not lead to the degradation of SILMs.
Researchers fabricated SILMs with 1-n-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([bmim][BF4]) immobilized in polyethersulfone (PES), nylon 6 (N6), and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) microporous membranes in order to explore the underlying membrane liquid loss mechanism of SILMs,. They studied the membrane liquid loss behaviors of the SILMs in terms of gas separation performance and the weight loss of membrane liquid (ML loss).
