Abstract
|
The
goal of process intensification to reduce energy consumption and capital
investment, while achieving environmental benefits by integrating differing
processes. Heat pump and dividing wall column distillations are two
representative examples of such design technology. Researchers studied the
performance of heat pump assisted dividing wall column, a recent technology
combining both heat pump and dividing wall column, for a reactive
distillation system and a heterogeneous azeotropic distillation system.
Results revealed that applying the heat pump technology to the dividing wall columns can achieve operating cost savings. This also increases the installed capital cost. This means that companies that can afford higher investment should consider the heat pump assisted dividing wall columns for better return in the long run. |
