Analysis on Refinery System as a Complex Task-resource Network

Abstract
Authors present a refinery system as a typical example of a complex network system. The topology of the system is described in terms of a task-resource network and modeled as directed and weighted graph, in which nodes represent various tasks and edges denote the resources exchanged among tasks.
Using the properties of node degree distribution, strength distribution and other weighted quantities, they show the heterogeneity of the network and point out the relationship between structural characters of vertices and the functionality of corresponding tasks.

Asset Integrity Management System Implementation

Abstract
In 2003, KOC initiated preparation of the Integrity Management (IM) System Standard & Guidelines. The IM system implementation sits under the HSE umbrella, complimenting the existing HSE management system policy and procedures. KOC operations assets include North Kuwait (NK), WK, S&EK, Gas Operations/Management and E&PD (Exploration & Petroleum Development).
A set of six critical areas for IM implementation was initially agreed. Operating assets and KPIs (key performance indicators) were defined accordingly. They included chemical management system, safety critical equipment, emergency shutdown system testing, fire & gas detection system, replacement of pipelines temporary clamps with permanent ones and procedure for control & monitoring of safety overrides equipment. Previous integrity related incidents were analyzed to identify the immediate and root causes and a basket of IM KPIs was prepared accordingly.
