Abstract
|
Pipelines are very important for the upstream oil and gas industries. The end products are transported to the clients through these essential installations. Two conditions must be met, which are the quality standards of the product as set by the client and secondly the mechanical integrity of the pipelines to prevent any failure. The quality of the product is maintained by proper processing of the raw material crude or gas. The external protection of the pipeline is carried using appropriate coating and cathodic protection methods. Internal corrosion is quite complex, because the presence of various corrosion species which can cause a variety of forms of corrosion. Researchers devised an internal corrosion monitoring scheme as part of the pipeline integrity management. |
