Abstract
Describes a proposal to quickly visualize the tentative design of an electric upgrading in a Northern Mexican refinery.  This would include locations for installation of primary electrical equipment as described in tender bases specifications, as generated in electrical upgrading projects, and as required in National Refining Industry (NRI).
Authors describe a requirements analysis, software alternatives and its evaluation for the development of virtual paths. Virtual models where developed with a 3D design. The models will improve time during work in the field and meetings for clarifications, the first stages of contact between suppliers which sell the electrical equipment and NRI in the tender process by 2011 and starting up by 2013.
