Abstract
To
meet today’s ever more stringent fuel specifications, it is necessary to
increase the hydrotreating and hydrocracking operations within the refinery
facility. Consequently, refineries will require more pure hydrogen. Authors
address the problem of hydrogen distribution within a refinery, where a network
perspective is adopted to solve this problem.
They propose a generalized superstructure for the design and
operation of refinery hydrogen network. To this end, they devised a nonlinear
programming model (NLP). In contrast to previous methods, their model considers
the effect of both pressure and temperature to present a more realistic
approach to the design and operation of hydrogen networks. A refinery case
study is used to illustrate the utility of the model.
