Abstract
Steam
temperature during the extraction process has a significant influence on oil
quality. Recent research aims to develop a new control technique to regulate
steam temperature. PID has a simple structure, straight forward implementation
and is easy to handle, especially when dealing with the industrial process. The
challenge during design of the PID is to tune the PID parameters gain that are
suited to the plant. To overcome this problem, the online tuning PID using the
fuzzy logic controller with self-tuning method is utilized to regulate the
steam temperature.
From the result, the performance of self-tuning fuzzy PID (STFPID)
demonstrated good improvement in terms of process dynamic characteristics,
which are: process rise time, process settling time, percent overshoot and
steady state error. Authors propose a control technique which has shown the
ability to track any parameter changes and provides fast recovery of the output
response during disturbance period.
Self-tuning fuzzy PID is categorized as adaptive control where automatically
tuned the gain of PID control. By combination of fuzzy set and PID control,
performance of step response transient analysis should be improved. The output
of fuzzy set from the error and derivation error was used to tune the PID
parameters with appropriate value.
