Abstract
|
Membrane
reactors that combine catalytic reactions and separation through membranes in
a single unit are an interesting option for the continuous production of pure
hydrogen. Such reactors achieve this by using mechanically and chemically
stable membranes with high perm-selectivity toward hydrogen.
Currently, the microporous membrane is a more economical alternative to the dense metal membrane for realizing membrane reactor technology industrially. Authors review recent developments in microporous membranes used for hydrogen-selective separation and describe advances in different types of microporous membrane reactors. They also describe several applications of microporous membrane reactors for hydrogen production. |
