Because
of their high nitrogen content, especially the basic nitrogen compounds, coker
gas oil (CGO) is difficult to crack with conventional FCC. In order to improve
the conversion of CGO, researchers conducted a high reaction temperature and catalyst
to oil ratio processing scheme in a pilot-scale riser FCC apparatus.
They tested two types of CGO to investigate the impact of basic
nitrogen content. Results revealed that increasing the reaction temperature and
CTO is an effective method for enhancing the conversion of CGO. The basic
nitrogen content significantly influences the cracking behavior of CGO and the
choice of optimal reaction conditions.
