Abstract
Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) represent a new method for simultaneous wastewater treatment and biological electricity generation.
Researchers examined petrochemical wastewater with 8000 mg/l of chemical oxygen demand in a membrane-less single chamber MFC.  They studied the effects of wastewater concentration as substrate for microbial oxidation, and anode material as designing parameters.
