Abstract
Author examines drivers behind technology investment decisions, focusing on the
factors that may have a huge impact on these decisions. Such factors include include investment
justification techniques, technology selection, organizational readiness,
technology alignment, and benefits realization. These five elements have not previously been
linked in research publications or reports, particularly within the
petrochemical industry.
The author’s
research attempts to identify the critical factors and difficulties that will
support decision makers to achieve successful technology investment in the
petrochemical industry. To address the research aims, the issues affecting
investment decision-making within a number of the biggest petrochemical
companies in Saudi Arabia were investigated.
